Lorraine U. Martinelle has over 25 years of professional experience in media relations and public relations; internal communications and employee communications; brand journalism; digital content creation; visual communications; media strategy and pitching; social media marketing; traditional journalism; and community and government relations and public service. Lorraine is the first—and only—woman to be appointed editor-in-chief of the Southbridge Evening News. In 2000, Lorraine served as a member of the Sturbridge Board of Selectmen, as its vice chair, and was the first legislative aide to former state Rep. Mark J. Carron, D-Southbridge, of the 6th Worcester District.
In June 2024, Lorraine founded her company, Lorraine U. Martinelle Communications Consulting LLC, which offers clients impactful solutions for managing an organization’s public relations and internal communications needs. We think like a journalist; write and edit press releases and distribute them to the media; pitch news to the media; prepare executives, business owners, employees, and/or volunteers for media interviews; write, design, and edit employee newsletters; write, edit, and distribute marketing emails; develop content strategies and editorial calendars. The daughter of two hard-working Polish immigrants, Lorraine grew up in Sturbridge, Mass., and graduated from Tantasqua Regional High School in Fiskdale. She is the first member of her family to have earned a college degree in the United States; she earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism and Germanic Studies from UMass Amherst and her MBA from Assumption University. Lorraine is a member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and serves as inaugural secretary of the PRSA Greater Worcester Chapter Board of Directors. Lorraine is also a member of the Webster-Dudley Business Alliance, Webster-Dudley-Oxford Chamber of Commerce, and the Southbridge Business Partnership.
